With May here & Mothers day on our door step its time to share shine a light on a few smaller pieces we have in store and our latest news. If you want to make your Mum (or someone else in your life feel really special) make sure you contact mrcookflowers Sean recently used the warehouse space for a photo shoot for an upcoming flower book ~ it was wonderful to see a floral artist at work, this shot was the beautiful remnants the morning after…

This year we have been delighted to find so many more people discovering our rambling warehouse via our smaller store in Surry Hills, Elements i love… and loving it! We have been approached by a number of small specialist companies hiring items for vintage weddings and special events ~ and our big scale pieces have been in demand for commercial fit outs and the like. If you are planning a soiree or an event that has to have that je ne sais quoi – we would love to talk to you about the possibilities or using the space for a creative launch, boutique event.

To tempt you to our sister store Elements i love… we have a collection of home wares, lighting, as well as, art for the walls and an indie range of jewellery – a great mix of old and new mix, but all desirable..especially for Mothers!

From the recent Martyn Thomspon exhibition Falling in Love at the Institute, these limited edition still-life photographs will take you to the South of France at first sight and are perfect amongst the French pieces in the Surry Hills showroom..

The ‘ little bit boho, a little bit rock n roll’ range of jewellery and leather goods range by Republic of You. Creator and founder Nicolette has put a personal stamp on each piece by naming them… Remember, Adorn, Bygone Blue – and they all come beautifully boxed with hand cut fabric swing tags – a lovely gift for YOU or something groovy for mothers days!

Indian shipment come & be part of the change…

One of the great joys of our job is the travel, and in particular to incredible India. It is here, like so many other traveler’s – that we see the best & worst of humanity, side by side, each and every day & often in very confronting ways.

At Elements (& Elements i love…) we have been looking for some time now for a way to help the least fortunate in this amazing country & we have settled on the SAMBHALI TRUST. This grass roots NGO in the heart of India seeks to empower, educate & protect some of the most vulnerable Indian women and children.

We spent a day with many of the girls & founder Govind Sing Rathore, on our last trip to India – and were inspired by the work of the trust, the women themselves and the role it has in changing the circumstances of a future generation of young girls from very underprivileged families in the heart of Rajasthan.

In both Elements I Love… at Surry Hills & Architectural & Antique Elements – each piece from our recent Indian shipment has a distinctive pink & gold shipping tag attached to it, indicating the amount your purchase will contribute to this wonderful cause. To make a start we have committed an initial donation of $1000 – this is enough to support one young girl for a whole year covering the costs of health care, education, accommodation & food!

The organisation has many branches as it tries to assist the most needy girls but also the ones who have the strength and aspiration to be part of the change that makes a new generation. The three girls here are attending a local private school, which the Sambhali Trust pays for as well as a small mini bus to take the girls to and from the school – it is not safe for them to walk the streets at their age without a male person as they are not married.

And this happy and mischievous looking group of girls are from the boarding house – the Trust has been integral along with a lot of support from some local families to create and provide a safe environment for these girls to live, be cared for and go to school each day. The boarding house also has a program where self funded volunteers come & live in India and help the girls with homework,their daily lives as well as teaching them a range of other skills.

At Elements we are excited to be offering our support to the Sambhali Trust and look forward to following the girls and the challenges that they face along the way. Thanks to those of you who have already bought a piece from our last shipment & encouraged us with your kind words of support.

Our Indian shipment is now in-store – mostly at Elements i love… We will be open Sunday 11-4 pm,

so come in and have a browse, there is lots of colour, fun pieces for decoration and for the garden -

different to the recent French shipment but just as lovely!

More stock will be added to the warehouse space over the next few weeks

if you are on the hunt for something in particular make sure you ask as it maybe behind our workshop doors!

It feels like ages ago since the New Year arrived and we opened the doors for 2013.

We have some great projects on the go and are looking forward to sharing all our news via the blog, Instagram & Facebook. At the warehouse we are busy as we wax, clean, sort, photograph and price our latest shipment from India – some small pieces have crept out on to the shop floor – so keep your eyes open for sneak peeks…

Christmas & a French shipment~ un match parfait!…our latest collection from France will be in store Saturday 1st December. The majority of the pieces will be at our sister store Elements i love… however, we might have a small collection of the European home wares available at Architectural & Antique Elements in weeks leading up to Christmas…

On the road in India..

In a complete contrast to buying in France we headed towards the hot and colorful sub-continent of India, we never know what we might find, or sometimes how we will get there! We have posted tid bits on Facebook and as always it is fun to write something on the road for our sister store’s blog – sign up for our fortnightly post~ www.elementsilove.com

Other ways to find out whats going on? Our stock pages on the website are updated every other week, and we share a brief version of the blog here on our news page. In addition, every 2-3 months we send out a Newsletter highlighting something gorgeous we have found or some tempting pics of an upcoming shipment.
