So it's a week or so til December 25 –
T
ime to get things in order…

After all the weirdness of 2020 there’s a sense that Christmas is like a long lost-lost friend that we’ll all be very happy to see.  As we slide or tumble into the final weeks of a year like no other it’s time to take five wherever we are.

To be honest I always feel it’s the summer holidays that are on everyone’s mind – often making Christmas feel like a blurry entrée before the main event. But for now I'm going inhale all the good things about this time of year....

T’is the season for fresh summer produce and the heavenly scent of a real fir or pine Christmas tree wafting through the house. If you are in Byron head to a local farmers market  Byron Farmers or Mullum Farmers  .. & if you miss those there's always the Bay Grocer.

It’s the one time of the year you can indulge in guilt-free nostalgia … dust off the old and favoured decorations of years past, clean up the silverware and make the house your haven.

Ahhh, cooking – yes, it’s a much-loved family tradition in our household. My mum loves to make us all a brandy-soaked fruit cakes and batches of buttery shortbread. And most of us enjoy busting a few moves in the kitchen between Christmas and New Year ! Not to mention the cocktails ...

There is always a bit of inhouse competition for spirited Christmas wrapping  ... lately the younger hipper wrapper has taken over that department.

💙 💙

If you are still looking for something that's hard to find or original - hop online or get in touch for a last minute visit before Santa arrives. We are happy to gift wrap all shapes & sizes !

This year it's all about simple.  Its family and friends who'll make my day and put me in the holiday mood as much as anything... I'm all for making less fuss and hopefully less mess.

After such a long and exhausting year I know that many families come together in less-than-ideal circumstances – especially this year where people are still recovering from the bushfires and the ongoing fall out of Covid.
A Christmas donation is a quiet and considered gift - there are many charities; find one in your local area, or check out The Good Cause Co to help you choose.

Finally Thank You to the lovely and loyal friends of Elements I love who followed our journey to Byron – we would be lost without you!  And to friends old and new in Byron, artists and artisans who we have collaborated with - its been an amazing few months. We might officially open in 2021 ! Wishing you a safe and happy Christmas where ever you are.
