French Corkscrew Lamp

A substantial mid 19th Century, hand carved walnut, wine press screw now as a standard lamp.  This piece was salvaged in the Languedoc region, originally from a horizontal screw press used in a French vineyard to crush grapes circa 1850's. The walnut has developed a deep and rich patina; this standard lamp would be equally striking in a city warehouse or country farmhouse.
