Painted Indian Shutters

Architectural antiques like this are a rare find... this very decorative pair of hand-painted shuttered doors come from the Shekawati region in India. The doors are painted on one side, and are show a scene from mythology, a ceremony featuring Lord Krishna, with symbolic animals and plants, and men and women. The reverse side are plain and unadorned. Overall condition is very good.
The painters only used natural colors for their art, like kajal (lamp black) for black, safeda (lime) for white, neel (indigo) for blue, geru (red stone powder) for red, kesar (saffron) for orange, pevri (yellow clay) for yellow ochre.
