Autumn Rain: the best of the summer gone, and the new fall not yet born.
The odd uneven time ― Sylvia Plath
The past week has been too much of everything, rain, wind and disruption...
For those who live in warmer (sub-tropical places), like the Northern Rivers there is usually a sense of relief as the last of the summer heat slips away and Autumn arrives.
However, we haven't had the luxury of noticing, thanks to the unwelcome appearance of Cyclone Alfred. Hopefully, as things settle, there'll be time to embrace the softening light and enjoy being at home instead of taking refuge ...
Today, I'm taking a break from the weather.
Whether you are renovating, renting or building your dream home - the foundation of a long-lived interior space is key pieces of furniture or eye-catching decorative elements. Unique finds like a French wine cage or an interesting textile; are timeless pieces that add charm and character.
Our favourite finds, and sometimes the hardest to part with, are architectural antiques. Look for pieces with worn texture, excellent proportions and in good condition ... ♥
Organic materials, natural timbers and authentic second-hand finds are essential elements ~ no matter the season. I always keep a good pair of secateurs in the car door because for me - it's the foliage and flowers that make interiors hum. Keep it real ... leave the fake flowers and plants on the shelf, they will be landfill soon enough!
Enjoy Autumn... X
