19thC Hundi Light

Found on our travels in India, these hand-blown glass 19thC hundi or bell jar lights were popular lanterns at the turn of the century, today they are especially suited to hallways and entrances. Originally made in Europe, they were exported to India to light large havelis and palaces. Candles or oil lamps were places inside the glass bell and the glass lid prevented soot from marking the ceiling. Lovely repoussé detail to the brass collars and mottled hand-blown glass.  

Sizes: A small and 2 large available, not wired, shades only.
