Wooden Spice Box

It’s getting harder to find good original early antique Indian spice boxes. The small exquisitely crafted bird was more than likely used for pigments; they are all hand carved from teak, some with remnant paint work and coloured spice residue.
Over 80-100 years old, each one has a lovely worn patina to the timber segments showing many years of use. A very decorative objet for display or daily use.
Size: Large Bird & Turtle approx. 30-35 cm long
Small Bird approx. 10-12 cm long
