Ikat Woven Wall-hanging

This stunning Double Ikat textile originates from Tenganan, a small village in south-east Bali. These cloths are called Geringsing, meaning 'without sickness' and are considered the most magical and powerful cloths of Bali.

The muted colours in this weaving are created from the natural dyes of indigo (blues) and morinda, a member of the coffee tree (reds) – the combination creates the reddish-brown colour. Shell bead work in the form of geometric figures and turtles add another layer of complexity. NB. The last 3 images are the reverse side of the wall-hanging.

 Size: 570 mm Wide x 2400 High
