Set of six early 19thC French pewter spoons, for the francophile or quintessential props for your next photo shoot. Size: 21cm x D 4 cm
These were called "Cuillères à Ragoût", and were used for eating soups and thick stews, which would have been the main dishes served up in homes across the country. They have a particularly pointy shape - useful for cutting up the meat, potatoes etc in the bowls at the table. These would also have been used in the huge kitchens of châteaux; some have makers' stamps.
They have been cleaned, but not polished, to leave them in their "as found" state.
