New Universal Encyclopedia (Sir John Hammerton Ed.), (1950). An extensive and well-regarded reference set in good condition, containing many black and white illustrations and colour plates (some fold out for extra detail). Externally, all volumes are in general good order.  Internally, the pages, print and binding are in excellent condition.

The series was published in various editions, starting around the 1930s, and often included sections on "creatures of the land, air and sea" as part of its coverage of animal and plant life. These encyclopedias were known for their photographic inserts and were edited by notable figures like Enid Blyton for some editions.
